“Specs look good but after my experiences of the last few years with HP, I'll avoid their consumer laptops. Their old Compaq business laptops were so much better. I have a DV and the OS load was horrible (now reimaged) with all sorts of trialware (with the MS stuff, it was nearly impossible to completely uninstall). The fan, even with regular air blast cleaning gets noisy and needs to be removed to cleaning annually, It's under the mobo so EVERYTHING except the display has to be removed to get at it. It's so cheaply made, tabs and flat cables have broken (had to ebay replacement cables). HP support is pits too.”

“I don't know about this specific model, but here are my experiences with my HP DV6936 (Intel CPU). Pros: Nice bright screen, great for watching videos, snap-in/out IR remote control (don't know if the Woot has this?) is very handy. Decently fast for most non-graphic intensive operations. Lots of ports, USB, HDMI, Firewire. Cons: bad fan/cooling design (need to blast out with canned air frequently or it will die), weak optical drive (has problems with discs other laptops read easily), clunky case design, rubber feet come off/get lost, shared RAM graphics not fast (as on most laptops tho'), HP provides horrible customer support That said, this doesn't look like too bad a deal...”
