“Runs about $60 according to Froogle, I had one of these a few decades ago when I was in Scouts and it made a huge difference. In for two!”

“I've had one of these for a while - if you've got Netflix, this is pretty indispensable, especially if you like watching TV series (the movie selection isn't that great). The wireless was very easy to set up and seems to have a good range. The interface has improved a lot with the most recent update, allowing you to search from the Roku and add to your queue without using the website. The fast-forward/rewind is still a little laggy because it takes a while for the buffer to catch up, but it's not bad. However, if you have Netflix and have a Wii, there's no point in getting this - just go to http://www.netflix.com/wii and request one of the free Netflix Streaming discs. The interface is better and snappier, and it's one less device for you to plug in to your TV. It's not HD, but since you're streaming from the internet anyway, it's not going to make that much of a difference.”

“I don't have this composter - it looks pretty complicated - but my wife bought me a giant black plastic one last spring and I've been 'feeding' it pretty consistently for the last 15 months. A few things you should know about what you can and can't compost: - just about any vegetable or fruit is fine; the smaller the pieces, the better (when I turned the pile last month, I found a complete onion that had been in there since the fall and it had actually sprouted!) - bread is great, it molds up and breaks down very quickly - cheese can be a little tough but will eventually break down - eggshells take forever to break down, if you're going to include them, rinse them and chop them up in a food processor first - NO meat, NO bones, NO fat - NO animal waste (cat litter, dog poo, etc.) - if you're looking for vermicomposting (with worms), you should keep your compost bin in the shade, and with how many holes this thing has, you're probably better off not even trying All in all, I've decreased my weekly trash output by about 1/4 to 1/3, depending on whether we hit the local farmer's market that week. If you pay for your trash pickup by volume (like we do in my city), it might eventually pay for itself! Be warned, though - avoid opening it up at night in the summer, because it wriggles like something out of a horror movie.”

“Clever design! Incidentally, their kids albums are fantastic. We took my daughter to see them do a family show in Pittsburgh last weekend based on our love of the band and her love of "Here Come the ABCs" and "Here Comes Science", and the band was spectacular. Not too loud, tons of energy, and three separate confetti cannon explosions! We bought their other two kids albums "No!" and "Here Come the 123s" on iTunes for the trip, and they also have some great songs. They're just as silly as their regular stuff, just not as dark and in the case of the "Here Come(s)..." albums, they're generally based around a theme. "Science" is the best of the set, but I'm a science teacher, so I'm biased. The videos (on DVD or download) are great, too; this is one of the best: Why Does The Sun Shine? Anyway, their tour is over for now, but as a fan and a parent, I highly recommend joining their mailing list so you can go see one of their shows, either rock or family (or Flood, where they play their most popular album beginning to end). I've seen them four or five times and each time I've been amazed by how much fun and energy they have.”

“That's the 8-bit Atari font, I'd recognize it anywhere. The "S" shape in the zeroes are a dead giveaway. The irony is that the only Mario game that ever ran on the old 8-bit Ataris was Mario Bros, and by the time Sonic came out, Atari computers were well on their way into obscurity.”

“Easily the worst woot-off ever. Snowman speakers, $5 pencils, more blenders and knives than could possibly fit in one kitchen, and seventeen different kinds of netbooks, all overpriced.”
