“Whether those can actually be termed monopoles is debatable (both poles still exist but are separated by a few nanometers), but regardless, no *macroscopic* monopoles such as the magnets sold here have been found. http://thebigblogtheory.wordpress.com/2009/11/23/s03e09-the-vengeance-formulation/ With that said, in for two!!”

“I have a chest freezer, and it definitely took longer to freeze the bowl than I expected (between 6 hours and overnight). I figured that because it's insulated, maybe that's why it takes a long time? Or maybe whatever liquid is in the bowl has a lower freezing point than water. I've also heard complaints that the soft-serve ice cream, when placed in the freezer to harden, ends up being too hard to scoop. I haven't had that problem, but it really does help to get the ingredients as chilled as possible.”

“It's correct either way. Generally, for introductory calculus, the dx is written at the end in order to bracket what you're integrating, but for more advanced study such as physics, sometimes it's preferable to have the variable of integration at the beginning (e.g., if there are multiple variables in the integrand or multiple integrals to be done) so that you know the variable that you're integrating with respect to.”
